Santa Rosa General Plan 2050

A general plan is a city’s road map for the future. It describes a community’s aspirations and identifies strategies for managing preservation and change. The draft General Plan was developed over the past three years in close collaboration with the community and with oversight and direction from the Planning Commission and City Council.

In June 2023, the City released a draft General Plan for public review. In the Summer and Fall 2023, the Project Team hosted a series of online and in-person events and activities to get input on the draft General Plan. A full summary of community feedback and comments is available here. Based on feedback heard by the community, the project team prepared an updated Draft General Plan released in October 2024. Based on comments received on the documents from the community, the project team identified a final set of changes to the General Plan, detailed in an Errata document presented to City Council on June 3, 2025 when the General Plan where the City Council voted unanimously to adopt General Plan 2050.
